GARNiDELiA is a music unit made up of female vocalist MARiA, and music composer toku.
The unit made their major debut in March 2014 with “ambiguous,” the opening theme song for the popular TV anime series “Kill la Kill.” Following their debut, many of their songs were subsequently chosen to be used as opening themes for a number of popular TV anime series, some of which include “The Irregular at Magic High School” and “Reconguista in G.” The second single “Grilletto” went viral on YouTube and recorded over 2 million viewers. In January 2015, GARNiDELiA also released their original album “Linkage Ring,” which ranked 7th on Japan’s national daily music rankings; as well as 11th on the weekly rankings. In August 2015, the duo released their indies best album “BiRTHiA.” Fifteen of the unit’s best representative songs – including ‘ARiA’ and ‘SPiCa’ – from their indies activity days were re-recorded for this album.
Following the successful sold-out show of their third solo band live at the Toyosu PIT in November 2015, they are already planning to hold their fourth solo band live at the Akasaka BLITZ on the 3rd of May – a national holiday in Japan – this year. GARNiDELiA also performs outside of Japan quite a bit. Their recent global activity includes performances in Anime Festival Asia 2014 Indonesia, Anime Festival Asia 2014 Singapore, SakuraCon in the U.S., Anison Dream Stage 2015 in Hong Kong, and SMASH in Australia. The group is on their way to becoming one of the hottest anime song units in recent years.

ボーカルのメイリアが動画共有サイトにこれまでに公開してきた動画の再生回数は約300万回を記録し、その本格的な歌唱力が人気を博している。またメイリアは歌だけではなくダンスもこなし、マルチな才能を発揮。一方、コンポーザーのtokuは代表曲「SPiCa」が動画共有サイトで125万再生を突破、公開作品累計では約1,000万再生を記録している。
国内外問わず、様々なフィールドで注目を集める中、2014年3月に大人気アニメ『キルラキル』の新オープニング主題歌となる「ambiguous」でメジャーデビューを果たし、iTunes Music Storeをはじめ、各音楽配信サイトの総合ランキングで軒並み首位を獲得。
その後、4月クール『メカクシティアクターズ』、7月クール『魔法科高校の劣等生』、10月クール『ガンダム Gのレコンギスタ』といういずれも大人気アニメの主題歌を4期連続で担当するという異例の展開に各方面で話題となった。
2015年1月に早くもメジャー初となるオリジナルフルアルバムの発売、5作目のシングル「MIRAI」は2015年4月クールのTVアニメ『ガンスリンガー ストラトス』のエンディングテーマを担当した。
2015年8月26日にはインディーズ時代の代表作「ARiA」、「SPiCa」など15曲を新たにレコーディングしなおして収録したインディーズベストアルバム「BiRTHiA」の発売が決定している。

「Le Palais Garnier de Maria（メイリアの歌劇場、歌う場所。の意）」と、tokuの生まれた年に発見された同名の小惑星「コーデリア (Cordelia)」からのアナグラム。
